School Bus Crashes into Home; No Students Involved
A bus crashed into a home near Deer Canyon Elementary School around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A man was injured near Deer Canyon Elementary School in Rancho Peñasquitos on Tuesday when the school bus he was driving went over an embankment and hit a tree and two other vehicles before crashing into a home's garage, police said.
No students were on the bus at the time and none were injured, San Diego police Lt. Andra Brown said.
The bus was pulling into the school around 1:30 p.m. when it struck an unoccupied parked vehicle, went over an embankment and hit a tree. The bus then continued back into the street, where it hit an occupied vehicle in the roadway and continued into the garage of a home, Brown said.

The bus driver and a woman in the occupied vehicle both complained of pain, Brown said. The bus driver was transported to the hospital, Brown said. The woman and her 4-year-old daughter, who also was in the car, were assessed and were not injured, said Maurice Luque, spokesman for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Police reported that no one was in the home. Luque said the home suffered minor damage to the garage, but not any structural damage.

The California Highway Patrol, which initially responded because it handles school bus accidents involving students, said there were three people injured.
The principal of Deer Canyon sent an email to parents about the accident, Poway Unified School District spokeswoman Sharon Raffer said.
