School Board Preview: Higher Fees, New Contracts

The Poway Unified School District Board of Education is set to meet at 6 p.m. Monday, April 16 at the district office, 15250 Avenue of Science, San Diego.

Here's a look at what's on the agenda (the full agenda is attached):

  • Initial Contract Proposals
    • Service Employees International Union, Local 221
    • Poway Federation of Teachers
  • Proposal to Increase Summer School (Extended Student Services) Fees
    • Fees would increase 50 percent, rising from $50 to $75 per family per year.
  • Classified Employee Layoffs
    • Affected departments include special education and student services.
  • Bonds for Community Facilities District No. 6 (4S Ranch)
    • "This resolution authorizes CFD No. 6 to issue Series 2012 Bonds in an aggregate principal amount not to exceed $42,500,000 for the purpose of financing the acquisition or construction of authorized school facilities and the defeasance and redemption of the Series 2002 Bonds. The actual principal amount of the Series 2012 Bonds issued will be finally determined at the time of the “pricing” of the Series 2012 Bonds based on the final interest rate on the Series 2012 Bonds, and the Special Tax revenues available to pay debt service on the Series 2012 Bonds."
