PUSD Special Meeting Set for Thursday

The Poway Unified School District Board is scheduled to vote on contract with its classified employees union Thursday morning.

The Poway Unified School District Board is set to meet at 7:30 a.m. Thursday to vote on a one-year contract with its classified employees union.

District and Poway School Employees Association (PSEA) officials are expected to finish negotiations Wednesday afternoon and release the terms of the agreement shortly thereafter, district officials said.

PSEA, which includes non-teaching employees such as office clerks, has been without a contract for nearly a year after disbanding a previous union and forming the new one.

Earlier this year, the district imposed an eight-day workyear cut on PSEA after several months of waiting without response for the union to accept the district's contract proposal or offer up its own. Other unions had already agreed to the reduction. It's not yet clear how negotiations will affect the eight-day cut.

Union leaders said officer elections and the transition to the new union delayed their response.

Thursday's meeting will be held at the district office, 15250 Avenue of Science, San Diego. A copy of the agenda is attached to this story.

Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly included bus drivers as members of PSEA. The drivers are in a separate union.
