Rancho Bernardo Historical Society Museum
Nestled in Bernardo Winery, the oldest Winery in SD County!
The Rancho Bernardo Historical Society began in 1982 and has grown to over 10,000 visitors per year! We are located at the oldest continuously operating winery in San Diego County, Bernardo Winery, 1889. Through donations, events like our annual Pancake Breakfast which honors our military at Memorial Day, and grants, we have digitized our early newspapers, photos, and correspondence. We have free, high quality monthly speakers like the CEO of SD Maritime Museum, Dr. Ray Ashley. These talks are now posted at You Tube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JGGC-w6wRk.
While you’re there, see our interviews with long time residents of the Rancho Bernardo area, who can tell you about how it all began, local attorney Bruce Cornblum’s involvement in forming the RB Community Park and RB’s baseball programs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx3AAWfTMUU
Our Education program is being revamped to reach out to children in classrooms and to host visits of scouts, or any group of youngsters eager to learn how to grind coffee manually, what a butter churn is, about the Kumeyaay Indians, area battles, and about all who came before us,

We have built an authentic Mud Wagon, a small stage coach, like those that ferried people to the far reaches of San Diego, Escondido and Valley Center. People can purchase bricks and pavers for installation at the museum. RBHS is a great research source. Recently, we provided background photos and stories about Webb Lake for the Build a Well Project. Visitors are so impressed by our facility, they donate to keep it operating and growing. You may like to join our Friends of the RB Historical Society volunteers. Come in. If you like what you see, become a member at $25/yr, or make a donation so we can keep expanding our services to Rancho Bernardo and the surrounding area. We need volunteers not just for events, for data entry and mailings, volunteering in the museum for an hour or two, as well as events like the Pancake Breakfast. Visit us at www.rbhistoricalsociety.org/ then get involved! You can respond to me at rbmuseum@sdcoxmail.com, or call 858-775-5788
