Registration Begins March 10 for Spring YPO Strings Program

Classes will be Saturday afternoons from 4 to 5 p.m. at St. Bartholomew's Church

String program registration for the non-profit Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (YPO) begins March 10 for spring session classes (March 24 through June 10). Beginner and intermediate string classes are available for violin, viola, cello, and string bass. The program is conducted by YPO Artistic Director Ulli Reiner, using the Strictly Strings, Strictly Classics, and Mark O’Connor methods. Classes are Saturday afternoons from 4 to 5 p.m. at St. Bartholomew’s Church, 16275 Pomerado Road. In this program, beginning students learn how to play songs by ear. Music-note-reading is gradually introduced into the weekly classes as students advance to higher levels of performance proficiency. Register on-line at yposd.org/violin. For more information, please contact Ms. Reiner by email at info@yposd.org or by telephone at 858-485-8114. The string classes are provided by the YPO, dedicated to enhancing the musical, social and intellectual growth of young musicians of all ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
