Woman Found Dead on Freeway Ramp Identified by Police

The woman whose body was found in her car off Interstate 15 in Escondido was identified as a San Bernardino County resident.

Escondido, CA — A woman found dead in a car with smashed-out windows on the shoulder of a freeway onramp in Escondido earlier this week has been identified, but how she died remained unclear Friday.
Fontana resident Elizabeth Antoinette Perez, 38, was found dead early Monday afternoon in the driver's seat of a black Mercury Sable on the connector from El Norte Parkway to northbound Interstate 15, according to Escondido police Lt. Ed Varso. She had suffered a head injury before her death, which investigators have deemed suspicious.

There were no obvious indications of what killed the woman or how several windows on the sedan wound up shattered, Varso told reporters Monday. Officers searched the area for evidence a second time Thursday morning.
Varso said the investigation was continuing, but there was no indication of an immediate threat to the public. Anyone with additional information was asked to call police at 760- 839-4722, or submit an anonymous tip by calling 760-743-8477.
