Would-Be Burglar Stabs Good Samaritan in Rancho Penasquitos: Police

The victim was attempting to stop the suspect from breaking into a car, San Diego police said.

SAN DIEGO, CA: A 39-year-old man was stabbed Thursday night while attempting to stop a vehicle break-in Rancho Penasquitos, police said.

The good Samaritan confronted the would-be burglar in the vicinity of Socorro Street and Andorra Way around 10:20 p.m., according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims. The suspect started running away, but the second man was close behind.

As they approached the intersection, the suspect pulled a folding knife and stabbed the victim in his side, Heims said.

Police officers arrive shortly afterward and took the suspect into custody, Heims said. His name was not immediately available.

The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life- threatening injuries, according to the officer.
