95+ Degree Weather In RSM; Hot Labor Day Weekend Ahead

An excessive heat warning was put in place as Rancho Santa Margarita temperatures are forecasted to hit triple-digits this weekend.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Rancho Santa Margarita residents may want to consider moving their Labor Day weekend plans indoors, after National Weather Service officials posted an excessive heat warning across Orange County from 10 a.m. Tuesday through 8 p.m. next Monday.

The excessive heat warning comes as a major heat wave is expected to scorch Southern California through the weekend, putting parts of Orange County at high risk for wildfire.

Throughout Orange County, temperatures will rise a few degrees Tuesday, then spike even more on Wednesday and hit the triple digits by Labor Day weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Rancho Santa Margarita residents can expect temperatures to slowly rise throughout the week, ultimately reaching 107 degrees for the holiday weekend, according to AccuWeather. Wednesday and Thursday will remain around 95 to 98 degrees.

Rancho Santa Margarita residents will likely experience triple digit temperatures as high as 104 degrees on Saturday, with Sunday temperatures reaching as high as 107 degrees.

On Monday, temperatures will scale down but only slightly. Accuweather predicted a high of 104 degrees for Labor Day, with dry heat and sizzling sunshine likely.

On the Orange County coastline, residents can expect slightly cooler temperatures ranging from 87 to 94 degrees over the holiday weekend.

Health officials advise residents to stay indoors with air conditioning whenever possible, drink plenty of fluids and avoid hiking or other strenuous activity in extreme heat.

Children and pets should never be left in unattended vehicles for even one minute.
