After Free-Falling, Gas Prices Start to Climb in OC

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Orange County today recorded its largest daily increase since May 15, rising 1 cent to $3.497. The Orange County average price had dropped 50 of the previous 53 days, including six-tenths of a cent on Wednesday, to its lowest amount since April 27

The Orange County average price is six-tenths of a cent more than one week ago but 16.3 cents less than one month ago and 65.9 cents lower than one year ago.

β€œSouthern California gas prices have reached a plateau after about seven weeks of drops,” Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.

β€œWe are now in that period of time when both peak production and peak usage are typically occurring, which tends to cause either plateaus or increases in price.”
