After Free-Falling, Gas Prices Start to Climb in OC

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Orange County today recorded its largest daily increase since May 15, rising 1 cent to $3.497. The Orange County average price had dropped 50 of the previous 53 days, including six-tenths of a cent on Wednesday, to its lowest amount since April 27

The Orange County average price is six-tenths of a cent more than one week ago but 16.3 cents less than one month ago and 65.9 cents lower than one year ago.

“Southern California gas prices have reached a plateau after about seven weeks of drops,” Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.

“We are now in that period of time when both peak production and peak usage are typically occurring, which tends to cause either plateaus or increases in price.”
