Bell Tower Community Center to Host Final Solar Education Series Event
The Rancho Santa Margarita seminar will conclude the Solar Education Series for 2017

In 2016 Rancho Santa Margarita was selected as a host city for the Solar Education Series, a regional initiative presented by nonprofits Center for Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Campaign, and sponsored by local solar firm, Sullivan Solar Power. Educational solar seminars have taken place across Southern California since January of this year, with a series hosted in Rancho Santa Margarita since May. These educational experiences are given in response to a growing demand for independent and accurate facts about solar power for homeowners.
More than 210,000 solar power systems have been installed in the Southern California Edison utility territory, making Orange County a global leader in the adoption of rooftop solar. Unfortunately, this rapid growth has resulted in some solar companies engaging in high-pressure sales tactics. Some companies also use misleading and outdated information about financial incentives that no longer apply, according to industry watchdogs.
Go Solar California, a leading solar power industry advocacy campaign, recently issued a consumer alert. According to the organization, there have been reports of solar companies “throughout California attempting to generate sales through unscrupulous methods.”
To help clear up this misinformation, a team of nonprofit experts and certified energy practitioners will help interested homeowners overcome any confusion about going solar at the final Rancho Santa Margarita Solar Education Series. The seminar will also walk homeowners through the state rebate program for battery storage, which provides incentives to homeowners looking to keep a back-up power supply source and maximize savings. Over 525 residents have attended Solar Education Series seminars this year, from Irvine to Yorba Linda, learning the facts about solar without the sales pitch.
