Empty Bowls Outreach: Benefits Hungry In Rancho Santa Margarita

A night of fundraising for the South County Food Pantry in Laguna Niguel will fill empty bowls all year long.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA β€” Empty Bowls, a hunger-awareness event held by South County Outreach, will return to El Niguel Country Club in Laguna Niguel on April 20 at 6 p.m.

"Local artisans, chefs, businesses and volunteers come together for an evening to raise funds to prevent hunger and homelessness in Orange County," they said.

Empty Bowls is an international grassroots movement created to fight hunger, and this event serves all of Orange County.

Based in Irvine, South County Outreach serves the communities of Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano.

"Hosted locally by South County Outreach, 13 local restaurants and chefs help provide a unique tasting event by each creating a signature soup," they said. "All guests will leave with a unique ceramic bowl, handmade by a local student or artist, as a reminder of those who are hungry, whose bowls are truly empty."

Live entertainment, wine tasting and a silent auction will round out the event.

A humble meal of savory homemade soups prepared by local chefs will be served, and tickets are $110 per person. VIP tables of 10 including wine will be sold for $1,200.
