Free Shredding E-Waste Drop Off Event In RSM: May 19

Mark your calendars, and dig through your file boxes. Rancho Santa Margarita is helping you spring clean with shredding/e-waste event.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA β€” Do you have a pile of broken or useless computers or iPads? Looking for somewhere to take that old television no one will buy at a yard sale? Then this event is for you.

On Saturday May 19, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. head to the city hall parking lot to shred documents and safely drop off your electronic waste for proper recycling.

Document shredding: Bring paper records or documents in a standard size file box or paper grocery bag. There is no cost to shred, and documents will be shredded "while you watch," the city said. Limit: 10 boxes per household or business.

Electronic waste: Bring your old, your tired and your non-functioning electronic waste for proper recycling. Items that are acceptable include:

  • Televisions
  • Mouse/Keyboards
  • LCD Monitors
  • Cables & cords
  • Computers
  • Printers/Hard drives
  • Shredders
  • Cell PHones
  • Power supplies
  • Telephones
  • Laptops
  • Servers
  • DVDs/VCRs
  • Copiers/Fax Machines
  • Computer Peripherals
  • Toner Cartridges
  • This event ensures that toxic electronics will be properly recycled.
