It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month...Think Pink and Get Fit Without Taking a Hit!
Ballard Boxing and Fitness shares the benefits of boxing for women suffering from breast cancer.

As if a diagnosis of cancer isn’t enough, the rehabilitation process after chemotherapy,
surgery and radiation can be damaging to “good cell” regrowth, increased inflammation,
reduce mobility and leave you feeling weak and unmotivated. So given all that, what is a
great method to get you back to your old self? Well, it’s exercise, but not just any form
of exercise, it’s boxing fitness. It is a well known fact, that exercise reduces your odds of
getting cancer and the recurrence of cancer. Boxing is the perfect whole body workout
to keep you fit without getting hit.
A boxing fitness workout can naturally decrease levels of inflammation, reduces stress,
help you maintain a healthier weight, and it changes your body chemistry creating a less
hospitable environment for cancer to grow. In fact, being active during your lifetime can
reduce your risk of breast cancer by about 23%, according to researchers at the
Harvard School of Public Health.
The cancer journey can be very disempowering because you feel like your body has
betrayed you, and there are a lot of things you can’t control. But, exercise, your state
of mind, and nutrition are things you can control. At Ballard Boxing and Fitness in
Rancho Santa Margarita, you get the complete body workout. Led by Gary “Boom
Boom” Ballard, a former World Super Middleweight Championship Fighter and
Certified Personal Trainer, men and women are stepping into the ring to join the fight
in a full sixty-minute boxing workout that helps to strengthen and tone your legs,
arms, chest, shoulders, back, core and increase cardiovascular fitness. This, in turn,
reenergizes the mind and body to promote healing. “It’s a challenging and yet very
satisfying workout,” said Ballard. Boxing fitness also has a tremendous impact on
self confidence. “Boxing releases endorphins in the body when hitting heavy bags
and doing pad work, which translates into a ‘feel good’ sense of well being and a
huge sense of self confidence,” he added.
