Noise Advisory: Rancho Santa Margarita Residents May Hear Booms

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Residents of Rancho Santa Margarita and communities around Camp Pendleton are likely to hear the occasional earth rattling boom through Feb. 11.

From Friday to Feb. 11, Camp Pendleton Marines have scheduled training with high-power explosives that may be heard up to 50 miles away, depending on atmospheric conditions. A noise advisory was issued by Camp Pendleton for the duration of the base's training.

The training takes place in Camp Pendleton's Whiskey and Zulu Impact Area. In Rancho Santa Margarita, Camp Pendleton's Whiskey and Zulu Impact Areas are roughly 45 miles away.
