OC Supervisors Send $20K To Canyon Communities To Combat Rainy Season

Orange County Supervisors voted to spend $20,000 to better prepare its canyon communities for the incoming rainy season.

SILVERADO, CA β€” Orange County Supervisors voted this week to spend $20,000 to prepare its canyon communities with sandbags and other preventative measures ahead of the incoming rainy season.

The canyons were hit hard by heavy rainfall last season, triggering mudslides in Silverado Canyon, main road closures and evacuation orders, according to a previous Patch report.

The decision was pushed by Third District Supervisor Don Wagner, who represents several of the county's canyon communities. The $20,000 will be funded by the Third District's discretionary funds, according to the county.
