Oso Parkway Fatal Collision Tuesday
A man leaving work slammed into another vehicle Tuesday afternoon; he succumbed to injuries and died. One other was injured in the collision

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Traffic slowed to a standstill during Tuesday's torrential downpour on Oso Parkway just west of Antonio Parkway, when a tragic collision took the life of one driver. The road conditions were wet and rainy, according to California Highway Patrol reports from the scene as emergency responders arrived.
A 21-year-old Lake Forest resident, Josh Bowers, was killed and a 35-year-old Trabuco Canyon woman was injured when a 2016 Ford Mustang and a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado truck collided Tuesday afternoon in Rancho Santa Margarita, authorities said.
The collision was reported about 4:15 p.m. on Oso Parkway just west of Antonio Parkway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

"The Ford Mustang was driving westbound in the #2 lane of westbound Oso Parkway and for unknown reasons, lost control of the vehicle and veered left toward eastbound Oso Parkway," CHP officer Raphael Reynoso told Patch. "The Mustang crossed the center median onto eastbound Oso Parkway, into the path of the Chevy Silverado pickup truck."
The front of the pickup slammed into the right side of the Mustang, with both vehicles sliding into the lanes of eastbound Oso Parkway.

Both victims were taken to Mission hospital, where the man was pronounced dead, according to CHP.
The pickup truck driver was in moderate condition and was expected to make a full recovery, according to OCFA Capt. Steve Concialdi. She was released from the hospital Tuesday night, according to reports. All lanes of Oso Parkway were re-opened by 7 p.m., according to the CHP.
"We would like to take a moment and express our condolences to the family who lost a loved one today," CHP officer Chris Goodwin said.
