Prepare For Monsoon Weather, Thunderstorms In Rancho Santa Margarita

After a two week-long heat wave, rain is predicted to shower OC over the weekend as a result of a powerful hurricane brewing in Mexico.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Keep your plans for the weekend indoors Rancho Santa Margarita — the National Weather Service announced that rain is forecasted for Friday, Saturday and Sunday as a result of a powerful hurricane brewing in Mexico.

The rain will likely be accompanied with thunder and lightning storms, as well as high wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour.

Friday night, Rancho Santa Margarita residents can expect rain showers and a possible thunderstorm, with temperatures in the low-'70s. Rainfall amounts will likely measure between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, according to NWS. Residents should expect higher rainfall in the event of a thunderstorm.

On Saturday, residents can expect warm temperatures in the mid-'80s as well as more rain showers and possible thunderstorms.

The monsoon weather is predicted to stick around until Monday, the NWS said, bringing with it the possibility of flash flooding in canyon and coastal communities.

Orange County Public Works crews are currently monitoring the Bond Fire burn area of Silverado, Modjeska and Williams Canyon in the event of a flash flood.

"The current forecast is below flash flood watch - but conditions could change," an OC Public Works spokesperson said.
