Rancho Santa Margarita School Makes Big Change for Sea Mammals
Las Flores Elementary School's 5th Grade students are raising money for seals and sea lions through the "Change the Life of a Seal" program.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA β A group of fifth graders from Las Flores Middle School are saving their pennies to save the pinnipeds.
A recent trip to Laguna Beach's PMMC's "Pinniped Pollution Project" showed the Las Flores Middle School students seals and sea lions whose health was compromised by aquatic pollution.
The Pacific Marine Mammal Center handles injured creatures from Seal Beach to San Onofre. As the only Orange County facility authorized to rescue marine mammals, PMMC has been extremely busy.

The Center has asked Orange County students for help through its "Change the Life of a Seal" program, encouraging kids to raise money for the care and rehabilitation of these creatures.
"Mrs. Katnick's class has already donated $200 to PMMC and it plans to continue its collections throughout the year," the Capistrano School District stated in release. "Having become aware of the problem, these students are committed to working toward a solution; they are taking on household chores and recycling projects in order to raise funds and care for the environment. Children are truly the stewards of the future. It's wonderful to see them recognize the importance of a global issue and respond in such a thoughtful way."
