Rancho Santa Margarita Super Moon Captured By Resident
The Super Moon in Rancho Santa Margarita was deftly captured by resident Bart Ortberg, as it rose over the lake. Here's how it happened.
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA β The night of the super moon over Rancho Santa Margarita was deftly captured by resident Bart Ortberg.
"The photos were taken around 6 p.m. on Sunday night," he said.
Ortberg and his family take regular walks in the evening around the lake in Rancho Santa Margarita.

"We walk each evening after work for exercise, and to enjoy the area," he said.
Last night the moon was huge and dramatic, he said. The Ortbergs joined many of their Rancho Santa Margarita neighbors, also walking around the lake, stopping to photograph the rare occurrence.

"Even though it gets dark so quickly now, lots of people were walking aroudn the lake along with us," he said.
According to Ortberg, residents paused to gasp, point and take photos of the Super Moon.
"I hear that we won't see it this close to the Earth again for 18 years," Ortberg said. "I'm so glad we got to experience it now."
