RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA β Is your tinsel looking a little less sparkly? Or your tree losing all of its needles? Live trees left too long after Christmas are a fire hazard, according to fire officials.
In Rancho Santa Margarita, your tree may be able to be picked up, curbside. If it can't be picked up locally, there may be a drop off location where you can dispose of the tree responsibly.
If Christmas trees are collected in your area, please ensure your Christmas tree is prepared in a safe and environmentally responsible manner by following these guidelines:

- Trees should not exceed maximum length allowed for pickup and may require cutting
- Remove any tinsel, lights, or ornaments
- Leave your tree at the curb the night before your scheduled pickup day
- Please ensure that trees are not "flocked"
Following the Christmas holiday, thanks to the folks at CR&R, your tree can be picked up curbside. Remember, they'll be on holiday schedule, with your trash pickup the day after your regular pickup day.
CR&R has stated that they will be picking up Christmas trees from residential customers, curbside, on your service day from December 26 through January 18.
