St. John's Gala Masquerade Ball

St. John's Episcopal School's Gala raised over $225,000 in support of technology in the classroom and the enhancement of the STEAM program.

On Saturday, March 28, 2015, over 180 St. John’s parents gathered at the luxurious St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort for the 2015 Gala – Masquerade Ball, St. John’s annual dinner and auction fundraiser.

Guests donned beautiful masks and Venetian style fashion, enjoying a night of camaraderie and fundraising. Guests bid on exceptional packages in both the Silent and Live Auctions, bidding to win items from trips to Acapulco and Bora Bora to VIP access to sporting events and concerts.

A special portion of the event supported technology in the classroom and further enhancing St. John’s STEAM initiative. An interactive SMART table was on display to demonstrate how technology can be used in the classroom to impact and motivate student learning. Following this section of the program, guests enjoyed a spectacular performance from St. John‘s faculty members Madyson Boyd and Austen Courter and even a surprise dance from St. John’s Head of School, Dr. Michael Pratt and a professional dancer from Arthur Murray Dance Studio.

Following the performances, a special video was shown that was created by St. John’s students under the direction of eight time Emmy award winning producer and St. John’s parent, Mark Teitelman. He met with students prior to filming to share advice and tips on what it takes to make a successful video. Nearly every student participated in the project!

The night also featured an Opportunity Drawing where one lucky winner took home a stunning, 18k white gold pendent necklace, dripping with over 5 carats of diamonds donated by the Hassine Family and Nuggets and Carats. As the evening progressed, guests danced and sang to music provided by Essence Entertainment and the world famous DJ Omar Khan.
