St. John's Students Receive Student Recognition Award By the City of RSM

St. John’s Eighth Grade students, Jake Taylor and Sonali Madisetti, were recent recipients of the City of Rancho Santa Margarita’s Student Recognition Award. Selected by their teachers for being outstanding students and individuals, Jake and Sonali were presented with their award by the mayor at the City Council meeting. The following is what was read to the students as they received their award:

Jake is a highly respected member of St. John’s 8th Grade class. He is a young man of great character who is honest, responsible, polite and very kind to all. Jake displays genuine concern for others and he goes out of his way to help people. He has a great sense of humor and he knows how to find the positive in every situation. In the classroom, Jake has excellent ideas to share, and he expresses gratitude to his teachers. Jake is an exemplary student achieving honor roll status while balancing his passion of rowing for the NAC Rowing Team. Jake participates on the Octothorpes Math Competition Team and the Advanced Robotics Team. Jake’s work ethic, excellent manners and respect for his classmates and teachers are a positive influence to all.

Sonali is an outstanding student who carries herself with a gentle grace. She demonstrates care and concern for the world around her and continually displays positive character with all of her peers. She is intelligent, creative, unique and is continually willing to help her classmates. Sonali is kind and tolerant of others and is willing to move beyond herself and try new things. Sonali is an active member of Octothorpes Math Competition Team and the Advanced Robotics Team. She also qualified for the Orange County Spelling Bee this year and advanced to the semifinals. Earlier in the year she wrote a moving essay that was chosen for the Holocaust Art and Writing Competition at Chapman University. Sonali is an extremely considerate and caring student who unselfishly assists fellow students, making her an outstanding citizen in our school.
