Trabuco Mesa Elementary Robotics Team

Great news! Local Trabuco Mesa Elementary and MATHmania Robotics teams had an exciting tournament in Ladera Ranch. Competing against mainly middle school teams, our little elementary team took third place out of fifteen teams! A couple of kids presented their hovercraft project in front of a panel of judges for the STEM competition. A few did well in the individual robot driving skills contest, and both teams ended up higher in the final teamwork rankings than ever before. Excellent job! (And a lot of fun amidst the chaos.)

Our elementary team continues to improve on their Clawbot, while our older kids have redesigned their robot to ride high above the scoring cubes and drag a full line of cubes into scoring range. They hope to triple their previous score with the new design. Our teams are already working on ways to get to the California State Championship next year!

Challenge Night - Demolition Derby

Following a pattern to start, kids 8-13 will be divided into teams to add a claw to a simple chassis. Working together, they then design a modification to put their robot ahead when they compete head to head against the other teams at the end of the evening. Pizza will be served.
