Troop 618 Collects Food for RSM Cares Food Pantry

They collect 1,435 pounds of food to help the people in our community.

Over Memorial Day Weekend, Troop 618 of Rancho Santa Margarita, held a food drive at the Albertson's of Ladera Ranch and collect 1,435 pounds of food for the RSM Cares Food Pantry of Rancho Santa Margarita.

Troop 618 is sponsored by RSM Cares, which oversees the Food Pantry and because the pantry was low on food, Troop 618 decided to have a food drive. They made a simple list of items needed, which included peanut butter, boxed cereal, canned tuna and chicken, canned fruit, canned corn, bags of rice, bags of beans and pasta. They would hand the list to shoppers as they entered the store and they could choose to purchase a few items from the list to donate as they exited.

The scouts that dedicated their weekend to collecting food, were Tyler, Ian, Jake, Ryder, Trevor, Sawyer, John F., Jacob, John S., Alex and Camren.

Dave Giddens, one of the Assistant Scoutmasters said that he was blown away by the generosity of the people who donated. It really touched his heart and it was great for the scouts to see and experience.
