Video: Neon Nation Delivers an Idol-Making Performance

The '80s tribute band entertains thousands in a festive concert that goes two-plus hours.

Several thousand people descended on Central Park in Rancho Santa Margarita on Sunday and stepped back in time.

More than two decades, in fact.

Bouncing to the beat of the 1980s, the crowd was entertained by tribute band Neon Nation in a concert that went slightly more than two hours and ranked high on the energy meter.

Performing songs made famous more than 20 years ago, the group of Clarissa Bruno (vocals), Michael Mahin (guitar), Paul Byrd (guitar), Scott Gaines (bass), Carl Nelson (keyboards) and Louis Gaghan (drums) delivered the goods—and then some—as part of the Summer Concert Series presented by SAMLARC and the city of RSM.

The accompanying video has 39 pictures from the event, along with the band's performance of Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" more than 90 minutes into the show.

Next week, the rock 'n' roll of the Kelly Fitzgerald Band will take the amphitheater stage in the third of four free concerts on consecutive weekends.
