CSUSB'S ONLINE CRIMINAL JUSTICE GRADUATE PROGRAM RANKED No. 2 IN NATION AS A 'BEST VALUE'

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Cal State San Bernardino’s online graduate criminal justice program has been ranked No. 2 in the nation in the “Top 50 Best Value Online Graduate Criminal Justice Programs of 2016” by ValueColleges.com.

CSUSB came in behind No. 1 University of California, Irvine in the ranking.

This marks the third time in the current academic year that the online graduate degree program made a national list. In August, the criminal justice online master of arts degree was listed at No. 17 in SuperScholar’s “50 Best Online Criminal Justice Programs 2015,” and No. 20 by U.S. News & World Report in its “Best Online Graduate Criminal Justice Programs.”

The CSUSB criminal justice department ranked high on three other national lists. Best Value Schools ranked the program at No. 3 in the U.S. in its list of the “50 Best Value Colleges for a Criminal Justice Degree 2015.”

While on-campus master’s programs exist because many people seeking a master’s degree in criminal justice are adults already working in the field, colleges and universities have scrambled to establish online degree programs. The main benefit of online learning is the ability for students to maintain a full-time work schedule and still attend class in a flexible, convenient format.

Between the University of California system and the California State University system, California could make an excellent case for having the strongest public higher-education systems in the nation. Cal State San Bernardino has been recognized by the Princeton Review as one of the best regional universities in the West. The CSUSB Department of Criminal Justice offers a master of arts in criminal justice that can be completed fully online, or in a hybrid format (for elective courses that are not offered online), with a choice between writing a thesis (for students intending to go into academic careers) or taking a comprehensive exam (for students who wish to enter administrative professions).
