HNTB awarded program management/construction management contract for Interstate 10 Corridor project by San Bernardino Associa

HNTB's work includes adding two additional lanes and new toll express lanes

HNTB Corporation was selected by San Bernardino Associated Governments to perform program management/construction management services for the Interstate 10 Corridor Express Lanes project in San Bernardino County, California.

HNTB’s scope of work will include project management, right-of-way acquisition, utility coordination, procurement and oversight of a design-build contractor and toll system provider, and construction management for one of SANBAG’s largest construction design-build projects ever. As prime consultant, HNTB will manage a team of partners on the project with the goal of relieving congestion on one of San Bernardino’s critical transportation corridors.

“This project demonstrates our commitment to support complex transportation projects throughout Southern California and emphasizes establishing a lasting presence in the Inland Empire,” said Art Hadnett, HNTB West Division president. “The I-10 corridor is an essential transportation facility for both passengers and goods movement and we will deploy our extensive national expertise in project management/construction management services and tolling practices to assure a successful project.”

“We welcome the opportunity to bring our firm’s innovative design-build and tolling experience to SANBAG’s I-10 project, which will ultimately enhance the region’s transportation options, support economic growth, and provide an improved quality of life for those who live, work and travel here,” said Khalil Saba, PE, HNTB Inland Empire area manager and vice president. “We are extremely confident that our HNTB team, led by our project manager, Paul Huston, will ensure an on-time project completion with new toll lanes operational by 2022.”

HNTB has roots to the West since beginning work on Pasadena’s Arroyo Seco Bridge in 1914, the firm’s first year of operation, and has since been involved in some of the region’s most high-profile, complex infrastructure programs.
