Hundreds of people from all over the region descended on Loma Linda University’s Drayson Center for a chance to receive free medical services.

The flu shot station had an area for adults and one that catered to helping children ease through the trauma of getting a scary shot in the arm.

Families received “passports,” which they took to the several booths to receive stamps. Those who filled the passport received a children’s backpack filled with gifts.
San Bernardino County has the highest number of uninsured residents in California, according to a number of agencies. A report released last year by the Committee on Energy and Commerce, District 41 -- represented by Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-Redlands) -- has some 95,000 uninsured residents. According to the California Nurses Association, District 43 -- represented by Rep. Joe Baca (D-Rialto) -- has just under 194,000.
