Redlands Native Donovan, Keane, Beckham Score in 5-3 Win in Portland

It was the second two-goal game in a row for Irish captain Robbie Keane, and the Galaxy won on the road again to remain in fifth place in the Western Conference of Major League Soccer.

Redlands native Landon Donovan scored on a penalty kick, Robbie Keane and David Beckham scored two goals apiece, and Los Angeles defeated Portland 5-3 Saturday night in Oregon.

It was the second two-goal game in a row for Irish captain Keane, and the Galaxy won on the road again to remain in fifth place in the Western Conference of Major League Soccer.

Beckham, returning from suspension for kicking a ball at an opponent and the referee at the end of a 4-3 defeat in San Jose on June 30, set the tone for Los Angeles by scoring twice from distance to give the Galaxy a 2-1 lead midway through the first half.

Donovan and the Galaxy next play in Vancouver on Wednesday July 18, and return to the Home Depot Center in Carson to take on local rival Chivas USA on Saturday July 21.
