Would-Be Kidnapper Tried To Drag Woman Walking Home Into Vehicle: Police

ONTARIO, CA — A man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping after he attempted to drag a woman into his vehicle while she was walking home Saturday in the Inland Empire, according to police, who said they believe the man may have more victims.

Israel Alejandro Carrizalez, 29, of Rancho Cucamonga, faces charges of kidnapping and false imprisonment in connection with the attack, police said.

Officers responded shortly after 10 p.m. to the 2700 block of East Inland Empire Boulevard in Ontario, where a person reported that a vehicle had pulled up alongside a woman walking alone and a man had tried to drag her inside, according to police, who said the man released the woman and fled when the witness approached. The victim, who told officers the vehicle had been following her, was scratched and her clothes were torn during the struggle, police said.

Authorities used intersection cameras to track the vehicle, and it was later located at a home in the 8700 block of Arrow Route in Rancho Cucamonga, where Carrizalez was found, according to police, who said he was arrested and held on $500,000 bail.
