2 Redondo Beach Police Officers Promoted To Sergeants

Upon the completion of a training program, Sergeants Korte and Weiss will be assigned as Patrol Division supervisors, according to RBPD.

REDONDO BEACH, CA – Officers Justin Korte and Brian Weiss are promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant, Chief Keith Kauffman of the Redondo Beach Police Department announced.

Sergeant Korte began his work with the RBPD in 2006 when he was a Police Cadet, and became a sworn police officer in 2008, the press release said. Sergeant Korte worked a variety of assignments as an officer including: Patrol, South Bay Platoon, Crisis Negotiations Team, Investigations Unit, and Field Training Officer.

Sergeant Weiss was hired by the RBPD as a Domestic Violence Advocate in 1997 and then as a Police Officer in 2008, the press release said. Sergeant Weiss’s list of assignments include: Patrol, Pier/Harbor Unit, Field Training Officer, SWAT officer, and Directed Enforcement Unit. Sergeant Weiss served from 2004 to 2012 in the United States Marine Corps, Reserve Light Armored Reconnaissance, and was deployed in Afghanistan and East Africa.
