Burglars Hit Same Redondo Beach Store 2 Nights In A Row

Redondo Beach police said detectives are investigating whether the 24-year-old suspect is connected to other commercial burglaries.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A Los Angeles woman has been arrested in connection with two burglaries at the same Redondo Beach hardware store on consecutive days, police said Thursday.

Jaila Gerard, 24, was identified as one of the suspects in the burglaries at South Bay Hardware, 2411 Artesia Blvd., according to the Redondo Beach Police Department.

Officers were first called to the store at about 9:13 a.m. June 12 after an overnight burglary was discovered. Investigators determined that two suspects forced their way into the business between about 1 and 2 a.m. and fled with merchandise, police said.

At about 3:05 a.m. the following day, officers returned to the store after an audible alarm was activated. Police said suspects had again forced their way inside and committed a second burglary.

Detectives conducted an investigation and identified Gerard as one of the suspects, according to RBPD.

On Wednesday, detectives served a search warrant in the 1000 block of Cedar Avenue in Long Beach. During the search, investigators recovered evidence believed to be associated with the two South Bay Hardware burglaries, police said.

Detectives are also investigating Gerard's potential involvement in additional commercial burglaries throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties, according to RBPD.

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration.
