Celebrate Veteran's Day With A Ceremony & BBQ This Weekend
The event will be held on The Esplanade in Redondo Beach, featuring music, commentary, honors, and more.

REDONDO BEACH, CA – This Saturday, Nov. 11 at Veterans Park in Redondo Beach, there will be a Veterans Day ceremony and barbecue beginning at 1 p.m. The event is sponsored by the City of Redondo Beach, The Redondo Beach Veterans Memorial Task Force, and the Redondo Beach Elks Lodge.
The event will include reflection and remembrance, music, commentary and honors to all those members of the armed forces who supported our nation in the uniform of their country. The keynote speaker is Brigadier General Philip A. Garrant, USAF, who is Vice Commander of the Space & Missile Systems Center at the Los Angeles Air Force Base. Mayor Bill Brand and other elected officials plus military dignitaries will participate as well.
Redondo Beach will honor the late Marine Sergeant Chad E. Jenson of Redondo Beach and his family. Sgt. Jenson was a Mira Costa High School graduate who lost his life in a crash in July. The 40th Infantry Division Band from the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos will be perform under the direction of bandmaster Chief Warrant Officer Eric Suganama. The Redondo Union High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC, the Coastal Naval Sea Cadets, and the Boy Scouts are also supporting the event.

Donations and contributions still being accepted for the Redondo Veterans Memorial. Sponsorships available along with the purchase of Memorial Bricks.
The ceremony will be followed by a BBQ picnic sponsored by the Redondo Elks Lodge in the Elks parking lot south of their building next to Veterans Park. The BBQ is free for all veterans and members of the military, police officers, and firefighters, and a $5 donation is requested from all others. Contact Elks at 208-473-6626 to RSVP for the BBQ.
