One Killed, Another Injured in Redondo Beaach Gas Station Shooting [UPDATE]

The suspect was described as a Latino male in his late teens or early 20s, police said.

REDONDO BEACH, CA -- Two people were shot, one fatally, at an Arco gas station in Redondo Beach this afternoon, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched at 4:01 p.m. to the station at Inglewood and Marine avenues, according to a Redondo Beach Police Department dispatcher.

Witnesses told police that two people became involved in a confrontation in the crosswalk at the intersection and during that confrontation a third person intervened, said Redondo Beach police Lt. Fabian Saucedo.

One of the men pulled out a firearm and shot the two other people, Saucedo said.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene and paramedics rushed another shooting victim to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, according to Mark Winter, a division chief with the Redondo Beach Fire Department.

The suspect fled and was last seen northbound on Inglewood Avenue and is outstanding. He was described as a Latino male in his late teens or early 20s, Saucedo said.

The condition of the surviving victim was not immediately known, Winter said.
