Redondo Beach Residents Sound Off on Safety Issues

We asked Patch readers to share their biggest safety concerns in Redondo Beach. Here's what they'd change.

Redondo Beach, CA- Summer’s nearly here, and with each walk in the park, day at the pool and backyard BBQ comes the risk of snakebites, drowning and fires, but don’t worry! There’s no reason to stay cooped up inside all season.

Patch put together a list of summer safety tips to keep you safe and having fun while the weather’s warm. Make sure to give snakes their distance and always swim with a buddy to stay carefree during the dog days.

Keeping these tips in mind, there are other possible dangers that affect Redondo Beach residents year round.

We asked Patch readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:

  • "Distracted drivers & not enough cops to ticket them running stop signs, talking on their phones, running red lights."
  • "Being a pedestrian or a cyclist! Trying to take a left turn on a bicycle by crossing over two lanes of traffic from S. Catalina's bike lane to take a left turn on to Beryl to get on the bike path!"
  • "New drivers not obeying the one year rule of not driving around other kids! Huge distraction, not enforced
  • "Drivers running stop signs. Good thing I am vigilant because otherwise I would have been in a number of accidents."
  • "Not being able to carry a firearm to protect myself."
  • "Driving down harbor drive and Beryl"
