Pier to Pier Brokers is hosting a Holiday Trunk Show today, Thursday, December 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their office in Hermosa Beach. The event will spread holiday cheer by supporting Sandpipers Sugarplum Tree. Guests can bring a donation of a new, unwrapped toy for the toy drive or purchase raffle tickets. Raffle ticket prices vary and you don’t have to be present to participate. It will be a day of food, shopping and fun with all proceeds benefitting Sandpipers. April’s Fools Comedy Troupe is bringing back their wildly popular scripted holiday show, Confessions of the Eight. The show will run for three nights beginning Thursday, December 10 through Saturday, December 12 and start at 7:30 each night. This comedic spin on Jeff Goode’s “The Eight: Reindeer Monologues” tells the behind-the-toy-shop story of Santa’s operation from the creatures that know him best – his Reindeer. “We really hit a comedic nerve with our ‘Confessions of the Eight’ last year which gave people a fresh, adult tale for the holidays”, said the show’s director, Sean Hannaway. “Everything you thought you knew about what’s going on at the North Pole is wrong. The Fools tell it like it is in this ripped-from-the-headlines, tell-all, reindeer expose.” Tickets are $10 and are available at the box office, by phone at 310-318-1705or online at www.aprilsfoolsimprov.com. Ruby’s Diner presents the eighth annual Cruise at the Beach Christmas Car Show on Saturday, December 12. The Christmas edition of Cruise at the Beach is a South Bay tradition that keeps automobile aficionados returning year after year. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Ruby’s parking lot. Take a stroll among some of the finest examples of the Southern California car culture and marvel at this amazing collection of classic automobiles. Judging begins at 9 a.m. with the trophy presentation at 2 p.m. In keeping with the spirit of the season, please bring an unwrapped toy to benefit the Cheer for Children Christmas Toy Drive. Alpine Village presents the annual Christmas Faire for three weekends: December 5 – 6, 12 – 13, 19 – 20, 2015. The free event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. each day. Guests will get in the holiday spirit with festive lighting, decorations and falling snow as Alpine Village is transformed into a cozy, snow-covered Bavarian winter wonderland. The event features arts-and-crafts vendors set up throughout the Village, a snow play area and craft area for kids to decorate stockings and ornaments. Santa will make a guest appearance each day of the Faire to take photos and hear what the children have on their wish lists for Christmas. The Redondo Pier Association presents the annual Holiday Concert & Santa on the Pier on Saturday, December 12 from 3 to 5 p. RETROFIT, a South Bay cover band, will be performing. Sing along to all the most popular holiday favorites! Santa will be in the house, so be sure to bring your list and be on your best behavior! The event also features giveaways and surfing Santa photos. Attendees are asked to please bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Love in the Mirror Toy Drive. Holiday tunes performed by a surf rock band on the Pier overlooking the deep blue…..this is how the South Bay celebrates the season! The King Harbor Yacht Club presents the annual King Harbor Holiday Boat Parade on Saturday, December 12. A longtime favorite of locals and visitors to the area, this hugely popular South Bay event gets under way at 4:30 p.m. in the main channel of King Harbor. As always, the Body Glove yacht Disappearance will lead off the parade with this year’s Grand Marshall, Denise Austin. The SUPs will be on the water at 4:30 followed by the boats lighting up the night at 5:45. This year’s theme is Tropical Holidays and boats participating in the parade will be judged by vessel type in several different categories. Awards will be given for Best Costumes, Best Lighting, Best Animation, Best Execution of Theme, Best in Fleet and the Overall Winner. If you plan to observe from shore, you can do so from any number of vantage points in King Harbor, from the Redondo Beach Marina, Redondo Pier, Portofino Hotel and Marina/Sea Wall, Seaside Lagoon Sea Wall and several restaurants with harbor views. King Harbor Marina/Moonstone Park will provide FREE bleacher seating provided by Bay Club. Seating is first come, first serve. Starting at 3:30 p.m. several food trucks will be available with an array of delectable food for purchase. Access is from Marina Way. The Manhattan Beach Yuletide 5K takes place Saturday, December 12. The event gets underway at 5:30 p.m. beneath the lights of the Manhattan Beach Pier. Celebrate the holidays and the Winter Solstice at the most unusual running event in LA. The entire course will be lit by real luminarias under the stars to guide you. Participants will race out from the pier, north to the jetty at 45th Street, and back. The miles are marked with splits and “kick” markers from 400m to guarantee your best finish. The super low tide creates a perfect running surface of hard packed sand like a dirt road so running with or without shoes is an option (the faster athletes tend to wear shoes). One can even wear track spikes! Baby joggers work great and are encouraged as the kids love being that close to the sea. Glow Necklaces and beachy t-shirts are guaranteed to all pre-registered runners and to late registrants while supplies last. Unique awards will be given to the top five and a chance to stand on the podium in all 28 age divisions. Packet pick up and late registration is Friday, December 11 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Village Runner store located at 1840 Sepulveda Boulevard in Manhattan Beach and from 3 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at the Manhattan Pier on race day. On Sunday, December 13, Rock & Brews El Segundo will host aDog Adoption event with Bullies and Buddies, a rescue organization based in Hermosa Beach. The event is part of the annual Rock & Brews KISSmas celebration, which takes place fromDecember 9 to December 20. Visitors will be able to meet loveable canines hoping to find permanent homes during the holidays from12 to 4 p.m. at Rock & Brews. The El Segundo Chamber of Commerce and Chevron present the52 Annual Holiday Parade on Sunday, December 13. The parade gets underway at 1 p.m. and is expected to end about 3 p.m. The route begins on Main Street at Imperial Avenue and proceeds south to El Segundo Boulevard. The grand stand will be located at Main Street and Holly Avenue on the west side of the street where parade entrant performances will take place. Floats will be theme decorated and Saint Nick will make his appearance at the end of the procession. Why not make a day of it? Prior to the parade, have lunch at one of the many area restaurants and afterward browse the local shops and knock a few items off your gift list. The Manhattan Beach Firefighters Association presents the 19 annual Spaghetti Dinner with the Firefighters on Sunday, December 13 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Fire Station #1. The community is invited to come on down to the firehouse and enjoy an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner prepared by our local firefighters prior to the annual Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks! Along with the salad and spaghetti dinner, there will be a fire engine to climb on, a picture cut-out board, firefighter sticker badges, plastic helmets, t-shirts and more. The cost is $10 per person and all proceeds from the event will benefit local charities. The annual Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks sponsored by Skechers will take place Sunday, December 13! Manhattan Beach’s signature holiday event gets underway at 4 p.m. with a concert by the Hyperion Outfall Serenaders followed by the award-winning Mira Costa Jazz Ensemble at 5 p.m. and local favorite, Joe’s Band, will be ‘Rockin’ the Holidays’ at 6 p.m. Skechers’ Snow Park will be open from 4 to 6:30 p.m. with five 50′ sled runs, two snow play areas and snowmen available for family photos. A donation of canned goods, cash or a new, unwrapped toy is requested for admission to the Snow Park. The always popular Bounce Park will have two huge slides and the Fire Dog bouncie for smaller children. The Holiday Fireworks start at 7 p.m. and will be synchronized to holiday music with an extended grand finale sponsored by Belkin. This is a hugely popular event so be sure to arrive early to enjoy all the fun! The Manhattan Beach Pier is located at the western end of Manhattan Beach Boulevard.
