South Bay Weekend Guide August 25, 2016
The South Bay by Jackie Weekend Guide offers comprehensive coverage of the greater South Bay area.

A few of you may have seen my Facebook post last weekend about our disastrous Sunday drive. My husband and I felt like taking a road trip to Malibu for lunch and we wanted to check out the Malibu Lumber Yard shopping center. The traffic was beyond horrendous, the Lumber Yard was meh and the restaurant we were planning to stop at, The Malibu Inn, is now a Mexican restaurant. We’re not fans of the other restaurants along that stretch of PCH (Gladstone’s, Moonshadows, etc.) and even if we were, every parking lot was full. We headed south and thought we might stop in Santa Monica or Culver City for a bite, but again, the traffic was dreadful and there were people waiting outside every restaurant we drove by. By 3 p.m. we were both starving and cranky and decided to head home. As we entered Manhattan Beach, I suggested we pop into MB Post – it wasn’t dinner hours yet and I thought we could get seated…. we did. We each ordered a sandwich and devoured them, and after telling the manager, Joseph, about our awful day, he treated us to dessert. Moral of the story – if you don’t absolutely have to leave the South Bay, stay put. Our stretch of Santa Monica Bay has less traffic, a huge selection of great restaurants and shops, way more parking, easy beach and ocean access, and the friendliest people on earth.
