South Bay Weekend Guide June 16, 2016
The South Bay by Jackie Weekend Guide offers comprehensive coverage of the greater South Bay area.

Father’s Day is this Sunday! When I was a kid, we gave Dad ties, cologne or some dreadful creation we made in school (World’s Greatest Dad! mugs). As my sisters and I grew older and had some disposable income, we would take him to a Met’s game (yeah, he was a diehard Met’s fan) or plan a day at the track, complete with all the beer, hotdogs and peanuts he could stand. (One year, I took him to a Yankee’s game. We sat in the press box, the announcer welcomed him and he was presented with a ball signed by the entire team. I had connections in the Yankee organization….the Mets, not so much.) We always had a great time during those outings. A new power tool or Old Guys Rule t-shirt is a nice gift….but it’s that precious, quality time spent with the most important man in your life that you’ll always remember.

The community is invited to attend the El Segundo Art Walktonight, Thursday, June 16 from 5 to 9 p.m. Located in the Downtown and Smoky Hollow districts, over thirty creative El Segundo businesses will open their doors for studio tours and become a pop-up gallery displaying original artwork of Los Angeles based artists. ESAW pairs artists with local businesses to display their work on the premises. Yes, it is an art walk, but the art is only half of the attraction. The venues are what make the event so unique. El Segundo has an abundance of remarkable and historic architecture, most of which house businesses not open to the general public. The opportunity to gain access to these distinctive spaces makes for an extraordinary experience. The evening features fine art, live music, great food and studio tours. It’s fun and it’s FREE! El Segundo Art Walk will take place the thirdThursday evening of the summer months – June 16, July 21 and August 18. Trust me; you don’t want to miss this! For additional information, visit the website at http://www.elsegundoartwalk.com/.
