About 3:45 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a call of a rape that had just occurred, he said.

“Officers contacted a female who indicated she met the suspect, Guy Dietz, at a residence in Torrance,” Kranke said. “Dietz falsely identified himself as an undercover police officer, and proceeded to forcibly rape the victim.”

Authorities began looking for Dietz, and about midnight, the California Highway Patrol “located and attempted to stop Dietz’s vehicle near King City, California,” Kranke said.

“Dietz led CHP (officers) and Monterey County sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit into the city of Soledad ... where he ran out of his vehicle,” Kranke said.

He was later spotted walking down a street and arrested, police said.
