Suspect Wounded In Officer-Involved Shooting In Redondo Beach

Officers heard a woman screaming from the back of the house, authorities said.

REDONDO BEACH, CA – A man was hospitalized Wednesday morning with a gunshot wound after an officer-involved shooting in Redondo Beach.

Redondo Beach police officers responded at about 9 p.m. Tuesday to several calls of a family disturbance at a home in the 1000 block of Esplanade. Officers heard a woman screaming from the back of the house, according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which was assisting Redondo Beach police with the investigation into the shooting.

Officers went to the back of the home and were confronted by a man with a gun, and an officer-involved shooting occurred, Redondo Beach police Capt. Joe Hoffman said.

The suspect was shot in the upper body, treated at the scene by paramedics and transported to a hospital in unknown condition, Crowder said. A weapon was recovered at the scene by officers.

The suspect's name and age were not disclosed. No other injuries were reported.
