Teen Charged in Fatal Redondo Beach Gas Station Shooting

REDONDO BEACH, CA - A man remained jailed Wednesday while awaiting arraignment next month in connection with a shooting in Redondo Beach in which one man was killed and another was wounded.
Erik Martinez, 19, is charged with one count each of murder and attempted murder, along with gun and gang allegations, according to Ricardo Santiago of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
The charges stem from a shooting just after 4 p.m. last Thursday near an Arco gas station at the intersection of Inglewood and Marine avenues.

Witness accounts indicated the victims seemed to know the shooter, said Redondo Beach Police Lt. Fabian Saucedo.
Mike Cortez-Marquez, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene and paramedics rushed the other shooting victim to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, authorities said.

Martinez -- who was identified by detectives as the suspected gunman -- was arrested after detectives spotted him at about 8 p.m. Friday in the area of Daisy Avenue and 10th Street in Long Beach, according to Redondo Beach police.
He is being held in lieu of $3.04 million bail pending his arraignment July 6 in a Torrance courtroom.
