Three Injured in South Bay House Fire

Two people were trapped inside the home and were rescued by sheriff's deputies.

CARSON, CA — A fire damaged a house in Carson on Thursday and left three people injured, two critically, authorities said.

Firefighters sent to the 1200 block of Elsmere Drive at 5:36 a.m. extinguished the flames in about 40 minutes, the county fire department reported.

Paramedics took three people to a hospital, two of whom suffered critical injuries and were revived en route to the hospital, county fire reported. The other patient was treated for a minor injury. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

According to the sheriff's department, sheriff's deputies responding to the location "learned two occupants were trapped inside."

"The deputies and L.A. County fire personnel removed security bars from a rear window and rescued the trapped occupants," a sheriff's statement said. A deputy was treated for smoke inhalation.

"The quick action by Los Angeles County deputies and Los Angeles County fire personnel, while placing themselves in harm's way, undoubtedly saved lives," the statement said.
