1 Pedestrian Dead, 1 Hospitalized In Crash Involving Teen Driver Near Peninsula Elementary School: Police
The police department reported a man and a woman were hit by a car in a crosswalk.
GILROY, CA — A man was killed and a woman seriously injured after they were struck by a teenage driver Friday morning in a Gilroy crosswalk, police said.
At around 9 a.m. on Friday, the collision occurred at the intersection of Charles Lux Drive and Lopez Way, Las Animas Elementary School, according to the Gilroy Police Department.
Police said the man died at the scene, while the woman was transported by air to a hospital in serious condition.

The driver involved is cooperating with investigators.
Police do not currently believe that speed or impairment were factors in the incident.
