2 Arrests For Illegal Weapons In San Mateo County

Both are felons, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

SAN MATEO COUNTY — Two felons were arrested by San Mateo County deputies last week for alleged illegal possession of guns, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of Warrington Avenue in Redwood City after someone reported a suspicious vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.

Upon arrival, deputies contacted a 32-year-old man named Jose Guadalupe Gaytan. They learned was had a restraining order against him for an address on Warrington Avenue, and he was also under the supervision of the California Department of Corrections due to parole conditions.

When deputies conducted a parole search, they allegedly found a loaded firearm in Gaytan's possession, the Sheriff's Office said.

He was placed under arrest on suspicion of multiple crimes and was booked into the Maguire
Correctional Facility, where he is being held on a no-bail status.

Around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, deputies conducted a traffic stop due to an alleged vehicle code violation. The driver identified as Racine Vernard Fowler, 41, was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The Sheriff's Office said they learned that Fowler had an outstanding warrant for assault from Solano County, leading to his arrest.

When deputies searched his vehicle, they allegedly found a loaded firearm concealed under the driver's seat. Fowler is a convicted felon, which led to his arrest on multiple suspected crimes, including unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, and possession of a high-capacity magazine.

He was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility, where he is being held on a $50,000 bail.
