2 Men Arrested In SMC Home Burglary Attempt: Police

Home security footage helped deputies identify the suspects after they fled when an alarm sounded.

WOODSIDE, CA — Two Redwood City men were arrested Tuesday in connection with an attempted residential burglary at a Woodside home, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said.

The suspects, identified as Casey A. Smithart, 37, of Redwood City, and Daniel R. Chisholm, 46, of Redwood City, were arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of residential burglary, the sheriff's office said.

On June 15, a homeowner reported a burglary that occurred two days earlier at a residence on the 2100 block of Greenways Drive.

Security footage showed two suspects entering the property on June 13 and going into the garage, where they began searching through items, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies said the suspects fled when the home's alarm system activated and did not take anything.

Investigators reviewed the footage and identified the vehicle used by the suspects.

On Tuesday, deputies located the vehicle on Twin Dolphin Drive in Redwood City, leading to the arrests.

No property was reported stolen.
