208 Cited In Redwood City, East Palo Alto Traffic Operation
22 officers from various San Mateo County agencies made more than 220 stops Wednesday during a traffic enforcement operation.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Traffic officers from various San Mateo County agencies conducted an enforcement operation Tuesday, resulting in 208 citations.
Tuesday's operation focused on East Palo Alto and CHP-Redwood City.
A press release from the San Mateo County Police Chiefs and Sheriff Association said this was the eighth time this year agencies worked together to check on "known trouble spots" in the county through the San Mateo County Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program, or S.T.E.P.

The 22 officers made more than 220 stops, the news release said.
Officers educated drivers on traffic safety as well as looked for violations, according to the news release. S.T.E.P. operations will continue throughout the year, police said.

Here is a breakdown of the citations issued, according to the news release:
- 73 for unsafe speed
- 46 for cell phone violations
- 44 for failing to stop at a stop sign
- 34 "for a variety of vehicle code violations"
- 11 for driving while suspended or without a license
- 3 arrests for outstanding warrants.

Atherton PD, Belmont PD, Burlingame PD, Brisbane PD, California Highway Patrol, Colma PD, Daly City PD, East Palo Alto PD, Foster City PD, Hillsborough PD, Menlo Park PD, Pacifica PD, Redwood City PD, San Bruno PD, San Mateo PD, San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, San Mateo Public Safety Communications, and South San Francisco PD.
