3 Killed As Car Plunges Down 300-Foot Embankment In Bay Area: CHP
The victims included a 17-year-old boy, according to investigators.
SARATOGA, CA — Three people were killed Monday night after a BMW went off Highway 9 and plunged down a steep embankment near Saratoga, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators said a 21-year-old Yuba City man was driving a BMW eastbound on Highway 9 west of Redwood Gulch Road around 9:36 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle.
The BMW left the roadway and went down a roughly 300-foot embankment, CHP said.

The driver, a 27-year-old man from Salem, Oregon and a 17-year-old boy from San Jose were killed in the crash.
Their identities have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Highway 9 was closed in both directions for about three hours while investigators examined the scene and crews recovered the vehicle.
