30 Cited In Redwood City Pedestrian Safety Sting
Ten warnings were also issued during Monday's operation, the California Highway Patrol said.
REDWOOD CITY, CA – A Pedestrian safety sting in unincorporated Redwood City earlier this week resulted in 30 citations and 10 warnings, the California Highway Patrol said.
The operation was held Monday on Middlefield Rd. and Dumbarton Ave.
Officers involved in the operation focussed on motorists and pedestrians who failed to yield the right of way or took unsafe or illegal actions, the CHP said.

The CHP said the purpose of the operation is to raise awareness about pedestrian safety.
“Pedestrian safety is a key issue in our community, and the CHP is committed to upholding pedestrian safety laws to protect our citizens,” the agency said in a statement.

The CHP said it conducts pedestrian enforcement operations in response to community requests and to educate the public on the rules at marked and unmarked crossings.
Funding for the program that paid for operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
