41 More People Unemployed From June to July

The unemployment rate has been fairly steady, but every tenth of a percent means more people without jobs.

Redwood City's unemployment rate was 8.7 percent in July, according to preliminary numbers released Friday by the California Employment Development Department.

That rate holds fairly steady from June's 8.6 percent, but is a jump from May, when the unemployment rate was 8.0 percent. In Redwood City, where the labor force is about 41,300, a tenth of a percent means another approximately 41 people unemployed.
