1. Community-first approach guides Stanford Medicine's cancer center vision (stanford.edu) — Stanford Medicine is planning a major integrated cancer center in Redwood City and has donated land on Arguello Street for a new American Cancer Society Hope Lodge to house patients during treatment. After a year of community meetings, residents have highlighted needs around affordable housing, traffic, jobs, wellness programs, and flood resilience, which will shape project agreements and upcoming city review meetings this fall.

2. Man arrested after entering Sequoia High campus, police say (rwcpulse.com) — A Redwood City man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly entering Sequoia High School's campus without authorization while carrying a metal file, prompting intervention by the school's liaison officer. Police say he became agitated, resisted detention and was Tased before being booked on suspicion of drug influence, trespassing on school property, resisting an officer and probation violation. Residents with information are urged to contact local police.

3. Partial verdict for San Mateo couple accused of trafficking Chinese nanny (mercurynews.com) — A human trafficking case tied to a Chinese nanny ended in a partial verdict at the Redwood City courthouse, with jurors convicting Qi Li of felony assault and criminal threats but deadlocking on trafficking-related charges against him and Jie Xu. Li is now in custody without bail, while Xu remains free, as prosecutors weigh whether to retry the unresolved counts at an October 16 hearing.

4. Previews and predictions for every Northern 5A/4A high school football game in Week 4 (nevadasportsnet.com) — Reno High's football team is traveling to face Sequoia High in Redwood City, giving local fans a chance to see the Huskies take on the Ravens at home. The preview notes Sequoia's 6-4 season last year and Reno's strong running game, predicting another lopsided Reno win. It's one of several Northern Nevada matchups highlighted for this week.

5. State leaders, San Mateo County agree to negotiate funding fix ahead of 1,000+ layoffs (rwcpulse.com) — San Mateo County officials, meeting at the County Center in Redwood City, have secured a state commitment to negotiate a fix for vehicle license fee funding that could avert over 1,000 public-sector layoffs.
